Metabolic and Weight Management Study

Take part in a new research study for a potential new treatment for metabolic conditions.

This study aims to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a potential new treatment for Metabolic conditions such as Obesity and Diabetes.

Critical Eligibility Criteria:

To take part in this study, you will need to meet all the following:

  • Aged 18 to 65 years old
  • BMI between 30 and 40
  • Considered generally healthy
  • Able to commit to the study schedule which includes a 30 night inpatient stay.

Commitment:

Participation is expected to last 71 days. This includes:

  • 1 visit to the clinic that includes a physical screening with potential for a secondary visit for a Dexa scan.
  • 30 night inpatient stay (at clinic)
  • 1 follow up visit following the inpatient period.

Adelaide

If you take part in this research study, there will be:

Reimbursement of costs

For out-of-pocket expenses, such as travel and parking.

Convenience

30 night inpatient stay that allows for possibility of remote work and visitors in discussion with the study site. Singular visits located at the same clinic

Study Guide

Who can take part in this study?

-

To take part in this study, you will need to meet all the following (other criteria apply):

  • Aged between 18-65
  • BMI between 30.0-40.0
  • Considered generally healthy
  • Able to commit to the study schedule which includes a 31 day inpatient stay

Who is unable to take part in this study?

+

Unfortunately, if any of the following apply to you, this study is not the right fit for you:

  • If you have taken a GLP-1, GLP-2 or DPP-IV Inhibitor drug previously
  • Are currently pregnant, breastfeeding, lactating or planning to fall pregnant during the study 
  • Have planned surgery during the study or surgery within the last 3 months.
  • Have any condition or have had previous surgery that affects GI digestion, small intestine or colon as well as any history or gallstones, gallbladder disorders or gall bladder removal.

What does the study involve for participants?

If the study is deemed suitable for you, your participation is expected to last approximately 71 days. This includes: 

  • 1 visit to the clinic that includes a physical screening with potential for a secondary visit for a Dexa scan
  • 30 night inpatient stay (at clinic)
  • 1 follow up visit following the inpatient period.

Participation in this research is voluntary, and you may withdraw from the study at any time.

What is the purpose of this study?

This study aims to evaluate a potential new treatment for Metabolic conditions such as Obesity and Diabetes and for people who may be impacted by Metabolic Syndrome.

What is Metabolic Syndrome?

Metabolic Syndrome is a cumulation of representative risk factors that are associated with metabolic conditions such as blood pressure, insulin resistance, obesity, diabetes and colitis.

Why is this study important?

This study is important because it is aiming to support and improve the effects of metabolic conditions by treating the underlying factors which can be associated with many potential conditions including obesity, diabetes and colitis.
